The New Masculinities group along with companions from the CREA: SAPPHO Women’s Group collaborate on two lines of research on gender studies:

• Theories on Love: An analysis of different theoretical approaches on love, its connection with socialisation processes throughout history and experienced as being “natural”, and the link between these approaches and gender violence.

• Overcoming the hegemonic model of masculinity: questioning the hegemonic model of masculinity and proposals for new models.

We have participated in organising the following conventions and conferences:

• Primera Convenció Catalana sobre Masculinitats, Diversitat i Diferència [First Catalan Convention on Masculinities, Diversity and Difference] was held on the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th of March 2003 in the Centre de Cultura Contemporànea de Barcelona. Our participation involved being members of the advisory committee and being in charge of the section on Recognition.

• Segona Convenció Catalana sobre Masculinitats, Diversitat i Diferència. [Second Catalan Convention on Masculinities, Diversity and Difference], which was held on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June 2005 in the Instituto de Estudios Catalanes. Our participation involved being members of the advisory committee and being in charge of the round table on “Nuevas masculinidades: voces y hechos des de colectivos sociales” [New masculinities: voices and facts arising from social collectives].
